Will this facility help to those who cant afford to buy?
We need to clarify some reservation about our objectives. Some of our friends would like us to reconsider our plans for Muslim Seniors Residence (MSR) project and include the following items, such as:
1. It should be able to provide complete Retirement Home facilities, such as those being offered by existing undertakings in the town already.
2. The proposed MSR project should cater to the needs of less affording members of Muslim community and should provide them an affordable housing, especially for retirees.
3. We should aim for government funding for this project in order to subsidize our services and make them more accessible to most people.
We understand that these are noble intentions and must be admired. However, reality of life is quite different. All these noble objectives are dependent on two important factors, such as:
1. Time and effort to pursue government and non-government agencies to provide the funding, which is not easy and comes with loads of strings attached. This is one of the main reasons that all efforts at developing such facilities in the past have failed.
2. Charitable organizations are good at fund raising, which is a totally different ball game. They can help and support our initiative if they find any value in it for them. But this route also requires a lot of time and effort to convince them to extend their support to our initiative.
Our stance is that if any individual or group who want us to pursue these options is most welcome to join us, we shall be glad to provide them our platform and shall cooperate with them as far as possible. However, expecting us to do things with our very limited resources according to their whims and wishes, whereas, they themselves remain aloof, is not a practical strategy. We need to define our objectives clearly and make sure that they remain attainable. Having lofty ideals is one thing but being able to translate them into practice is quite another.
