Our Core Philosophy Explained!

We think it is necessary to explain our core philosophy to our members in order to make things very clear and avoid any confusion, that is, to make the best use of our resources, financial or otherwise.

Question: How will this program help members save money in comparison to other available options?

Let’s examine most traditional retirement homes. These are all profit motivated purely business ventures. Their main objective is to make money for their investors, builders and managers. Their business model comprises mostly of three tiers. All tiers make substantial profits before pricing their services for their customers, which are old and retired people.

They need their basic needs to be taken care of and a comfortable living experience as their near and dear ones are unable to do so, for whatever reason. Let’s explore this issue a bit more.

a. Tier one is the financial institution or a group of investor’s who lend money and charge an interest.

b. Tier two is the builder who builds the entire project. The calculate their cost benefit ratio even before they the construction has begun to see if their endeavour would be worthwhile and they will be able to make a good profit when they complete and handover the project.

c. Third tier comprises of the facility management services providers. Their job is to make sure that the facility runs smoothly and is able to provide promised services to the customers. These companies have a host of employees to serve seniors communities. They are also in the business of making money, having paid their employee salaries and other management costs.

The model that we are following is mostly based on self-help, thus cutting down the cost significantly. But how? Let’s examine!

a. Bargain a good deal with the builder as a group and try to get maximum discount upfront for our members, resulting in substantial savings to them.

b. Self-manage the facility through a management committee consisting of its own residents. This includes managing prayer areas, making meals arrangements and hiring staff such as concierge or personal support workers etc.

c. Booking up with a nearby local mosque to get volunteer help on a regular basis. The requirement of mandatory 40 hours volunteering for high school graduates before applying for admission to universities can be helpful in this regard.

Our model is based on saving as much cost as possible for our members during their retirement years. We know that not everybody has been able to save a lot of money during their working lives. This is one of the main factors differentiating us from traditional retirement homes concept, besides of course providing them with an environment where they can live and enjoy their traditions, language, culture and company that they have been used to all along!
